Talbots | Washington Square Family Portrait Session Mobile, Alabama

Deborah Michelle Photography Mobile Alabama Family Photographer

“Can you believe that we’ve never had professional family portraits taken?” was what Ellen, an Alabama family photographer, confessed to me. To which I responded, “let’s fix that ASAP!”

We started discussing locations for her very own family portrait session, when we settled on this quaint little park nestled in between the most beautiful oak trees away from the busyness of downtown Mobile, Alabama.

*Quick tip to all the sweet moms out there: parks provide some of the best locations for family portraits with small children. I love shooting in local parks because it allows us plenty of room to roam about & get some of that energy out! ⁣

Enjoy a few of my favorites from the Talbots family portrait session. I know you’ll fall in love with their little boy just like I did.

*Sometimes mom & dad need a few portraits of just them. Because, let’s be honest, the last time they probably took portraits together was on their wedding day!

Chyna & Hampton | Moss Rock Preserve Engagement Portrait Session

Deborah Michelle Photography Birmingham Alabama Wedding Photographer Moss Rock Preserve

From our first phone conversation to meeting in person for the first time, I knew we’d have the best time capturing their love story. We bonded over our love of pups & how great our fellas are.

Chyna always dreamed about having a Christmas wedding but being a school teacher, she knew that’d be tough. So Hampton decided to grant her a Christmas in July proposal! How stinking cute is that?!

These two have been together for nearly 10 years & just like the United States Postal Service that Hampton works for nothing, not even a flat tire*, can stop him from being with his girl. Their love story is pure & loyal. And it is my joy to be their Alabama wedding photographer.

*Hampton told me about the old truck he used to drive hours to see Chyna with. On one of the trips, he got a flat tire & she thought he wouldn’t make it that weekend. Then much to her surprise he figured something out & made it to her. I think it was then, that she just knew he wasn’t going anywhere.

Ya’ll these portraits were taken in Birmingham, Alabama! Can you believe a place like this exists right here in our backyard.

Most days you can find her cheering on her alma mater, the University of Alabama, while he rocks a ball cap. I love that they chose to highlight their fan “loyalties” with their casual outfit at the end of their engagement portrait session.

If this engagement portrait session was any indication of what their wedding day will be like, bring it on! I had the most fun roaming about the Moss Rock Preserve & cannot wait to spend a Saturday in July laughing until my cheeks hurt with theses two again.

Olivia | Lifestyle Newborn Portrait Session

Alabama Lifestyle Photographer Deborah Michelle Photography

It’s no secret that I love weddings BUT reconnecting with a DMP couple to photograph their newest little addition is definitely high on the list too. ⁣Amanda & Lance said 'I Do' five years ago in Demopolis, Alabama. And just welcomed a sweet baby girl into their family. 🎀⁣⁣

I absolutely loved catching up with them in their sweet home to photograph their growing family. I am so thankful that they've trusted me to capture their biggest life moments thus far.

Lucy was very protective over her little sister & of course had to make sure I was treating her well. But also wanted a few close ups of her own!

Abbie & Jacob | Mobile Bay Engagement Portrait Session

Deborah Michelle Photography Mobile Alabama Wedding Photographer

It’s no secret that I love the Gulf Coast. And it’s no secret that I have the absolute best clients.

Abbie & Jacob made my dreams come true when they asked me to capture their love story. Abbie was born & raised in Birmingham, Alabama & Jacob from Cincinnati, Ohio. The University of Mobile brought them together & after just three dates, Jacob knew he had found his future wife.

A year later, Jacob was down on one knee on the Bluff in Fairhope, Alabama asking for Abbie’s hand in marriage. He had the ring & planned to wait for a weekend when all of their friends were in town, but he couldn’t wait.

I am pretty sure I screamed like a little girl when I found out this beautiful girl was engaged. From bible studies to coffee chats, I have grown to adore Abbie & her friendship. And now I get to celebrate her in this exciting season of life.

Aren’t they absolutely adorable?! Also shout-out to Jacob for looking dapper in his sports-coat in 90+ degrees.

After our time in downtown Mobile, we headed across the bay to catch the sunset. And let me just tell you, it was worth it.

Kayla & Garrett | Avondale Park Engagement Portrait Session

Deborah Michelle Photography Birmingham Alabama Wedding Photographer

Being a photographer who is new to Birmingham, Alabama I love exploring all the different locations we have at our disposal for portrait sessions. Avondale Park was next on my list & Kayla & Garrett were on board for an adventure. To which I am so glad!

We started their Birmingham engagement portrait session in Avondale Park. From the stone amphitheater to the little creek, treasures were everywhere. It’s like we jumped across the pond to somewhere over in England, you know the cute little towns where epic love stories are written.

Kayla & Garrett have been dating for 6 years. They met through mutual friends & after just three dates she knew. Garrett was soon to follow, “I love how she loves me for me. She doesn’t try to change me.”

We stumbled upon this little sunflower garden & had to stop. Garrett used a bouquet of 24 sunflowers, her favorite, and one rose to propose.

Lauren | University of Alabama at Birmingham Senior

Deborah Michelle Photography Magic City Photographer Birmingham Alabama

Mini marathon mixed with many vibrant colors is how I would describe this downtown Birmingham, Alabama senior portrait session. Lauren is a small town girl who came to the big city of Birmingham for college & completely fell in love. So much so that she has plans to stay.

Lauren came with me with this idea of including several of Birmingham’s murals in her college senior portraits & then let me run with the route. *Literally. We started out at Railroad Park for a view of the city including the Regions building where she will soon take her first job out of college with a Bachelor’s in Accounting from UAB.

We made stops at the Color Tunnel & the Rotary Trail, before jumping for joy at John’s City Diner with the popular “It’s nice to have you in Birmingham” mural. Scroll through & let us know which stop is your favorite!

LOVE this Friends reference! *Also, decorating your caps wasn’t a thing when I graduated but I think it’s super cute to add a little personality.
